Chapter No: 1

Narrated from Abu Ayyub (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Four things are from the Sunnah of the Messengers: Modesty, perfume, the Siwak, and marriage."


Abdullah bin Mas'ud (RA) said: "We went out with Allah's Apostle ﷺ, while we were young men who had nothing. He said: 'O group of young men! The marriage is mandatory upon you, for indeed it helps in lowering the gaze and protecting the private parts. Whoever among you is not able to marry, then he should fast, for indeed fasting will diminish his sexual desire."

Chapter No: 2

Narrated from Samurah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ forbade from celibacy.


Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (RA) said: “Allah’s Apostle ﷺ denied Uthman bin Ma'zun (when he asked) regarding celibacy, and if he had permitted it for him, then indeed we would have castrated ourselves.”

Chapter No: 3

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "When someone proposes marriage to (someone under the care) of one of you and you are pleased with his religion and character, then marry him. If you do not do so, then there will be turmoil in the land and much corruption."


Narrated from Abu Hatim Al-Muzani (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "When someone comes to you (for marriage) and you are pleased with his religion and character then marry (her to) him. If you do not do so, then there will be turmoil in the land and corruption. They (companions) asked: "O Apostle of Allah! ﷺ What if there is something about him?" He replied: " When someone comes to you (for marriage) and you are pleased with his religion and character then marry (her to) him." (And he ﷺ said this) thrice.

Chapter No: 4

Narrated from Jabir (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed the woman is married for her religion, her wealth, and her beauty, so marry the one having religion, and may your hands be dusty."

Chapter No: 5

Narrated from Bakr bin Abdullah Al-Muzani that Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (RA) proposed to a woman, so the Prophet ﷺ said: "Have a look at her, for indeed that is more appropriate to make things better between the two of you."

Chapter No: 6

Muhammad bin Hatib Al-Jumahi (RA) who said that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "The distinction between the lawful and the unlawful (Nikah) is the Duff and the voice (announcement)."


Narrated from Aishah (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "Publicize this marriage, and conduct it in the Masjid, and beat the Duff for (announcing) it."


Ar-Rubai bint Muawwidh (RA) said: "The morning after the consummation of my marriage, the Prophet ﷺ came and sat on my bed as far from me as you are sitting now, and our little girls started beating the Duff and reciting verses mourning my father who had been killed in the battle of Badr. One of them said: 'Among us is a Prophet ﷺ who knows what will happen tomorrow.' On that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Stop saying this and keep on saying what you were saying before.'"

Chapter No: 7

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that while felicitating the newlywed, the Prophet ﷺ used to say: "May Allah bless you and send blessings upon you, and may he gather both of you upon goodness."

Chapter No: 8

Narrated from Ibn Abbas (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "If anyone of you, when approaching his wife, says: 'In the Name of Allah, O Allah! Protect us from Shaitan and protect what you bestow upon us from Shaitan' - then if Allah has decreed a child for them, Shaitan will not be able to harm him.'"

Chapter No: 9

Aishah (RA) said: " Allah’s Apostle ﷺ married me in Shawwal, and he consumed his marriage with me in Shawwal." And Aishah (RA) liked her friends to get married in Shawwal.

Chapter No: 10

Narrated from Anas bin Malik (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ saw some traces of yellowness on Abdur-Rahman bin Awf so he asked: 'What is this?' He replied: 'I married a woman against the amount of gold equal to a date stone.' So, he said: 'May Allah bless you. Give a wedding feast, even if with only one sheep.'"


Narrated from Anas bin Malik (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ gave a wedding feast for (his marriage with) Safiyyah bint Huyayy (RA) with Sawiq (grain parched and coarsely ground and drunk with water and sugar) and dates.


Muhammad ibn Yahya also reported from Humaid who from Sufyan a hadith like this.


Narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (RA) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: "The meal on the first day is obligatory, and the meal on the second day is Sunnah, and the meal on the third day is to be heard of, and whoever wants to be heard of, Allah will make him heard of (to the people on the day of resurrection regarding his showoff)."
